Diana Hall
Jeweler
Bringing together diverse influences is a key theme of my life and work. I grew up in Bremen, Germany and still have vivid memories of watching the cityâs goldsmiths through their shop windows as they plied their craft. Later, I attended Rhode Island School of design, where I focused on gold and metalsmithing design and techniques. I began to incorporate carbon fiber into my jewelry after working with this space-age material at my fatherâs ship-fitting company.
The immense strength and intricate woven patten of carbon fiber unites with gold, silver and precious stones, creating a unique synthesis.
Drawing on inspiration from primitive design and modern aesthetic, my jewelry aims to be both elegant and practical, designed for swimming, surfing and casual dress-up. Working in my Rhode Island and Caribbean studios, I have continued to build on this theme, producing an expanding line of jewelry that constantly reinterprets this melding of materials in fascinating new ways.
