WHO WE ARE AND HOW WE OPERATE

About the Gallery

Four Corners Gallery was established in 2022 as an artist-owned and operated nonprofit business dedicated to exhibiting and selling our original, unique, professionally displayed artwork. 2-D artists are each allocated approximately 8 to 10 linear feet of wall space; 3-D artists use pedestals and/or display shelves for their work. A limited number of racks are permitted for unframed high-quality reproductions, which must be marked as such. We keep the gallery fresh by rotating spaces several times per year, by changing the feature wall and the front desk wall monthly, and by individually adding new artwork regularly.

Finances

All members pay a monthly fee to cover the cost of rent, maintenance, supplies, advertising, events, and other expenses. The monthly fee per member from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2025 is approximately $205. The Gallery does not charge a commission. All proceeds from sales are repaid directly to the individual artists, minus 5% to cover Square fees and incidentals, at the end of each month.

Operations

Currently the Four Corners Gallery has 15 artist members, including a three-person board of Directors: President, Treasurer, Secretary. Each artist is required to work (or compensate another member to work) two to three 5-hour shifts per month, depending on the season, during which they are responsible for managing the gallery and handling sales. In addition, each member is required to contribute time on a committee for the benefit of the co-op. These include scheduling, managing events, purchasing supplies, maintenance, graphic design, social media posting, PR, and display coordinator.

Four Corners Gallery is a member of the Tiverton Four Corners Merchants’ Association, which promotes its businesses with additional advertising, email newsletters, and group events.

Membership Opportunities

The gallery has several membership openings now, with the option to continue membership for the following year. In March of 2024 we anticipate having a small number of additional, year-long spots for new artists. Prospective members will be juried by a committee, based on two criteria: 1. suitability of the artwork, and 2. skills that the prospective artist brings to the organization. Any artist with an interest in joining is encouraged to download the application form from our website, www.fourcornersgalleryri.com, and submit it by mail or email. Applicants will be notified of their status as quickly as possible after review.
