My paintings are done in oil on canvas, often featuring large scale structures and the natural environment nearby. The interaction of nature and structure intrigues me. A bridge, for example, appears to dominate the landscape until you see the power of the currents that flow underneath. My interest in bridges goes back to the demolition and reconstruction of a landmark truss bridge on the Sakonnet River. I have explored this subject many times over a decade, and I find the art and engineering of bridge design as amazing as when I started.
